Plaster Relief Carving- Clay slab impression
-Students will carve into a flat plaster mold to create a mold to press a clay slab into. This will then be modified as desired to create a hanging piece of art.

Students will explore the development of art through time. As Henry Moore was heavily influenced by the Cubist and Surrealist movement we will explore the key artists of these movements.

Unit 4: Sculpture Styles: Subtractive
- SUBTRACTIVE ABSTRACT ART: FLAUVISM AND CUBISM
- Plaster Sculptures using subtraction methods.
- Students will use balloons to create their own abstract forms of plaster.
- Students will then release the trapped form in the form that the artist is to free via chiseling.
- Students will select the appropriate use of color and intended placement for their piece to ascertain the appropriate stage of finishing.
- ADDITIVE ABSTRACT ART: CUBISM/FUTURISM
- Students will create abstract pieces from Styrofoam.
- Students will select aspects from their historical references that inspire them.
- Students will select a color scheme to enhance their work based on color theory discussed in class.

STAINED GLASS ART:
- Students will understand the basic terms used in creating stained glass.
- Students will identify 2 major modern day stain glass artists
- Students will analyze the origins of stained glass
- Students will compare and contrast historical uses for stained glass compared to modern day.
- Students will explore the Gothic art movement and identify the changes to architecture during this time.
- Students will create their own stained glass project using copper foil method demonstrating the mastery of the process.
- Students will create a presentation of their research of stained glass. (following the provided webquest)
