3. Scratchboard

- Students will explore the world of positive and negative space as a pre-cursor to Batik Making. This will be a brief project that will be completed in conjunction with Batik making given the time constraints of Batik dying.

Students will explore the challenges of contour drawing while emphasizing their understanding of tone and facial symmetry.
Unit 3: Planning processes
Students will express an understanding of visual emotions by creating a cartoon character.

- Students will use their "mugshot" as a reference for a 3-D form version.
- Students will demonstrate mastery of this project by completing their 3-D form and a 3 framed comic strip depicting an event in history. (Events will be provided based on the particular history classes they are taking)

10. STAINED GLASS ART:
- Students will understand the basic terms used in creating stained glass.
- Students will identify 2 major modern day stain glass artists
- Students will analyze the origins of stained glass
- Students will compare and contrast historical uses for stained glass compared to modern day.
- Students will explore the Gothic art movement and identify the changes to architecture during this time.
- Students will create their own stained glass project using copper foil method demonstrating the mastery of the process.
- Students will create a presentation of their research of stained glass. (following the provided webquest)

11.String Art: Elements and Principles of Art
- Students will explore the use of line and shape to create form using repetition of line and patterning of colors through string art.
- Students will explore the history of string art.
- Students will identify the "Father of String ART" and how his work differs.
- Students will continue to analyze art for its use of the elements and principles of art.

Students will Explore the Constructionist Movement
Assemblage- Found Objects (Principles: Dominence/Emphasis, Scale/Proportion, Contrast, Harmony Elements: Form, Space, shape, texture, color)
American Revolution- Romanticism
Students will explore the elements and principles of art through the Romantic period by completing a group PowerPoint project within their google drive. One digital copy will be shared with me. They will be responsible for understanding the basics of the Romantic period as well as the impact of the American Revolution on the French Revolution. They should also know basic information on Napoleon. Finally, they will be able to identify at least 3 major artists from this art movement. Most importantly they will be able to analyze artwork for the artists use of the elements of design to create a unified composition. |
